WPX Migration Guide: How to Move a WordPress Site Safely

WPX currently offers a migration workflow that can use hosting-panel credentials or file/database access. Even when the host performs the copy, you should own the verification and cutover checklist.

Before requesting the migration

  1. Create your own fresh backup.
  2. List forms, checkout flows, membership functions, cron jobs, email, and other critical features.
  3. Gather the access method WPX requests. Its current migration guide supports hosting-panel/cPanel access or SFTP/FTP plus database access, with other access options documented by WPX.
  4. Avoid major content/configuration changes while the final copy is being prepared.

Test before DNS cutover

Verify pages, forms, logins, media, redirects, SSL behavior, email-related functions, and any ecommerce flow on the migrated copy before sending real visitors to it.

Cut over carefully

Change DNS only after the copy passes your checks. Monitor both the new site and important external services after propagation begins. Keep the old hosting account available briefly as rollback insurance when practical.

After the move

Recheck analytics, Search Console verification, robots directives, canonicals, scheduled jobs, caching, and transaction emails. Hosting migration is finished when the application works correctly, not merely when files have been copied.
